Ziggy was confiscated by Animal Control on a neglect call and his situation was brought to our attention. Ziggy was emaciated, anemic and heartworm positive. He probably didn't have much longer left to live before his rescue.
He's a bran new dog now! All he needed was love and good care. Heartworm disease has been treated, he's gained a bunch of weight and he is pretty much back on his feet.

Foster Situation: Ziggy is currently in a temporary foster home but needs a new home ASAP. The foster home he is currently in is open to him while he is going through heartworm treatments to cut down on stress. Ziggy has been introduced to some of the dogs in his foster home and did great. He's also good with cats
Training: Ziggy is crate trained and house broken.
Since in foster care, Zig has learned that, starting from the day of his rescue, people are no longer out to hurt him. He used to be somewhat fearful but he has made tremendous progress. He's definitely a ladies man and loooves women. He needs a little more time to warm up to men but he's not aggressive what so ever - just a little scared or unsure around men he doesn't know. It really doesn't take him long to get over it though. And once Ziggy knows you're a friend, then you're a friend!!! Ziggy will glue himself to you and soak up as much love as he can.
Personality: Ziggy really is a big goof, a comedian, a cuddler and an all around great dog. He almost always has a huge bully smile on his face and seems to really enjoy his new found life. You can tell he truly appreciates the kind of safety and comfort he never had till now.
Ziggy loves to roll in the grass... It's nothing for him to take a good roll a couple times while outside. It's as if he can't get enough of the way it feels; he'll lay down and just rub his muzzle in it, take a deep breath and look up at you as if he is thinking "OH MY this stuff is pure bliss!" Oh, and he loves to butt run too (see vidoe).
His other favorite thing to do is beat the water out of the bowl (outside) on a hot day as if he is trying to dig a hole through the bottom of the bowl. Loves it.
Best Attribute: When Ziggy gives his heart he gives his WHOLE heart. He does not hold back once you have earned his trust. He will make a wonderful pet, and will give himself to everyone in the family.
