Xerxes grew up with another dog and is now fostered in a home with several dogs and cats. He does well with everyone. Xerxes is a sensitive boy, laid back for a pup and on the submissive side. He is very affectionate and loooves to give kisses.
Story: This beautiful boy came from a house with another dog and he got along great with her. The home also had small children in and out and he did great with them too. Sadly, his family gave him up because "we just don't have time for him."
Foster Situation: Xerxes is now fostered in a home with 3 female dogs and 2 cats, all of which he gets along great with. He goes on daily walks and is getting his fare share of public socialization. He's a star at PetCo and other various places where we take him.
Personality: We can't figure out why his previous owners did not have time for him. He is an extremely well-behaved dog that knows how to sit, stay, laydown, "go potty" and "go to bed". What more could you ask for in a dog? Oh, and lets not forget that this hunk knows how to fetch and wont make you wrestle him for the ball to throw it again. He either drops it by you or lets it go in your hand! What training is this dog lacking that the owners did not have time to teach him? God only knows...
He is crate trained, house broken and walks well on a leash just to top things off! He is great riding in the car. You can even take him with you on a picnic and he lays down and doesn't bother you while you eat (we did this today). He really is a total package.
He does have one down fall... he wines a little when he wants your attention. I think it is from being kicked out of his home so he has a little bit of anxiety. We are working on.
Did we mention that he is good with cats and other dogs?
He is a big boy but does not run you over, so he is safe to have around toddlers and small pets.
When coming in from outside he waits to be let in instead of running through you to get in the house. Such a polite boy! It's crazy, if you tell him "go potty" he will actually run out into the yard and go potty! How many dogs do you know potty on command? Most just sniff around and come back... He actually goes!
As if all this was not enough, the dog is gorgeous.. Silver blue brindle, his coat looks like velvet. He's a tall dog and should continue to fill out as he reaches maturity. He will probably end up well over 80 Lbs when he's full gown.
And finally, he is veeeeery affectionate. This boy loves to cuddle and he loves to give kisses. Very sweet.
Best Attribute: The best things about Xerx... He is a "total package". He is a great dog to take camping, running, walking, hang out in your favorite quiet spot, but then he is also good for lounging around with the family, taking on car rides... Really anything you want. He just really wants to be loved and find a home that wants to keep him forever. A home that will call him a family and mean it.....
