Family members came from Seattle to care for the dog while trying to find rescue for him. MPR could not say no..... Courage is sad to have lost his beloved owner, but glad to have found help.

Foster Situation: Courage is in a home with other dogs with a crate and rotate. He does not seem to be bothered at all by other dogs. He is crate trained, he does good on a lead. Courage sleeps in his crate at night and goes right in on his own.
He loves to play tug, likes to run and play in the fenced yard.
Courage is needy for human attention. Not the independent type. He likes to get on the couch and roll on you for love and belly rubs.
We were told that his previous owner has an 11 year old son, so we believe Courage has been around kids. He sure seems relax and easy-going in all situations.
Courage seems to be a pretty laid back guy. He is so far an all around good boy. Courage is around a lot of different people daily and responds well to everyone. He is always happy to see you. We think he would be good in a home with a fenced yard, someone to take him on walks, car rides and some kids to play with. He's very much the "family" type dog.
Curge would probably be good with a female dog with crate and rotate and slow intro.
This happy-go-lucky boy appears very healthy, though we are currently assessing a limp on one of the back legs.

Training: Courage is crate trained and house broken. He knows sit. He likes to play tug. He is very eager to please and craves human contact. He loves hanging out on the couch and rolling on you for belly rubs.

Personality: Courage is very outgoing and silly. He does get a little rambunctious at times, wanting to jump up on you or be on you lap when you are on the couch but nothing that cant be easily controlled and/or corrected. He is very responsive. Courage likes to wrestle with the guys and cuddle with women. He's both a guy's dog and a girl's dog.
Courage loves it when other volunteers come over. He is middle of the road when it comes to his disposition. Not too dominant, not too submissive. He also has a well balanced level of energy and laid-back personality. Courage is playful and always wants to be by your side.
We have not seen any prey drive in Courage as of yet and there are squirrels, birds, rabbits and other little critters where he currently lives. When the dog next door barks he just looks at him and goes about what he was doing. He does not seem to be a scaredy cat at all. He loves checking out all the back yard smells. He will get on the couch with you, wants to roll on you for belly rubs, wants to be petted, and after awhile, will lay by you.

Best Attribute: His personality and silliness. He is always smiling and just has this way about him that will make you smile. It is hard to put into words but there is just something about Courage...When you look into his eyes, he kinda just sucks you in. He's a volunteers favorit....He just wants you or any other human around. He will give love to all.

Please help give Courage a better quality of life. He has so much love to give.
Courage was recently diagnosed with luxating patella in one knee... We are devastated but don't want to give up on this sweet boy. The surgery to repair is knee is very expensive but we hope to raise the money so Curge doesn't have to suffer anymore. Poor boy needs all the help he can get..... Please help us help him...
We know we ask a lot and often.... We wish we could go at least a month without begging... But those sad cases just keep coming... One after another one... Endlessly.... We can't do it without your help.... |
