Handsome's recovery has been going very well and we are so glad we gave this deserving dog a chance to get back on his feet. He is so much fun! As the hair is growing back, we realize that Handsome has a very unique coat color and markings. He has some beautiful brindle markings mixed in with his black and white coat. We have never seen such a combination before and that makes him one-of-a-kind!
Note that because Handsome skin was so injured to do the infections and mange, he has developed scar tissue and the hair has been growing back unevenly. So ok, he's no Brat Pitt... His charm definitely makes up for his rugged appearance, though.

Handsome lives with several other dogs and he gets along great with everyone. While MPR has a policy of not doing same-sex placements, we would love to find Handsome a home with a young and playful female. Except for a young foster sister, the dogs in his current foster home are much older so their interaction with him is limited. Handsome shows no aggression but his playful energy irritates the older dogs. He's just a happy-go-lucky goofball and he loves every minute of his new happy life. He does spend a lot of time playing with the younger female and the two of them are like two peas in a pod.
Living with older, wise and well behaved dogs, has been a great leanring experience for Handsome. Even though he is much more silly and puppyish, he has learned to have good house manners and to just spend time relaxing and enjoying life like the older dogs do.

Handsome goes in his crate on command and is always quiet and patient when crated... He's no trouble at all, even though he is just a big puppy at heart. He uses the doggy-door when he needs to go outside and sleeps on a dog-couch in the dog-room.
His happy personality is refreshing and he never misses a chance to amuse the galary with his silly antics. We are now trying to teach him to appreciate being petted without busting out with enthusiasm every time someone touches him. Being touched and loved-on is still new to him so we understand why he cant get enough of it.
His friendly behavior, house manners, general health and apearance continue to improve on a daily basis. Handsome is going to be a fine companion when his trouble with mange is completely behind him. We're getting there :-)

Handsome is a happy-go-lucky boy who has already put his difficult past behind him and is thrilled to discover that life can be fun. It's as if he didn't want to miss a minute of it and was making up for all that he missed before. He needs leadership and structure but he is responsive and eager to please. It's such a great feeling to watch him enjoy life...
